The Need for Parent Support Groups

Help when you Need it!

Google

Raising children is a demanding job for any parent, or guardian, and it is no surprise that an important factor in the success of this is the support networks we have access to.

I realize that for many people, it is not as simple as it was a generation or two ago, where there was typically and extended family.

However, all is not lost, and I’ll explore some options that may be available.

Whilst there are some parents who succeed very well as single parents for example, and bring up very decent, and well adjusted kids on their own, and with little support, I would like to point out that it does not have to be that way, if you choose.

Sometimes, just for the sake of a little relief, or ‘me’ time, and a change, it can be very helpful to have support.

Another scenario is that some parents simply do not cope as well as others on their own, and really do need supportive help from others. This is nothing to be ashamed of. We are all different, and need help in different areas, as we all have different strengths.

Some people will choose to move so they may be closer to family relatives. However, this is not always possible, or practical, and some people form community networks, where several parents offer to form a group, and support each other. It may be in the form of child minding, it may be mothers groups for a chat and advice, it may be many things limited only by your imagination.

Some mothers have even used the internet as one of their sole forms of information, as they are alone, without any near family support, and use the various baby websites for news updates each week. This can also be a great source of information when you are up at 2 am with a screaming baby!

This is not intended as reckless self promotion- it is a modern fact that some people are using these methods, due to their circumstances, and personal position.

Naturally, when you are able to set up close friendships with others around you, it can be fantastic for some adult communication, as well as the ability to leave your kids with someone you know, trust and who is reliable, if you need some time out as well.

I have included some links to Essential baby for Parent support as wll as to another website for information for mothers at Smart Mums.

Further Points of Assistance with Your Children

I have come across a great site that deals with children's and parenting issues, that I feel could be a very supportive platform as well, being Child Central.

The site is about tips on how getting the right parenting support can help you. They also feature a wide range of child development articles such as potty training, homeschooling, Autism, plus Video teachings.

A great site for parents...
