How Do I Help Myself Shape Up Before, and After the Birth of My Baby?

Tne Benefits of Yoga- an Excellant Prenatal Exercise

Yoga is an ancient form of exercise, now being revived, and practiced by mahy followers around the world. The benefits of ypga is that it can be practiced by almost anyone, and can assist greatly in the control of breathing, relaxation, and tension relief.

I have included a link to the Yoga Download Page where prenatal yoga classes may be downloaded.

The benefits of yoga are many, and the greatest part about the Yoga Doenload Page, is that there is a section dedicated to prenatal classes.

These classes are available in varying levels of skill, and can be downloaded to an iPod or recorded onto a CD for playback.

Which ever method you choose, you will find that these exercises can be done when it suits you.

I personally recommend always getting medical advice before participating in any form of exercise, to ensure all is OK.

I look forwards to hearing of your positive results, and greater relaxation, and stress free feelings...

I always like to remeind my readers that pregnancy can be a joyous, and special time, and yoga is one way to make it all the more special.

Keeping in Shape After the Birth of Your Baby!

For many women, it is quite a concern that they may end up a little out of shape after the birth of their baby, and for others, a complete surprise that they may look any different!

Essentially, even though you may not have the resources that some of the more famous starts have, like personal trainers, there is still a definitive way to help your self get back into the shape most suitable for you.

I am not suggesting the process is automatic, but there are definitive actions you can take.

I hope to explain, and inspire you to be back to the shape you wish for.

Let’s get started.

Firstly, it is normal during your pregnancy to put on extra weight.

Whilst there are no hard and fast rules about this, it is not uncommon to add around 13 or 14 kilos to your pre pregnant weight.

It’s important to realize this is not just your weight, but rather made up of the fluid around the baby (amniotic fluid), as well as the baby’s weight itself.

You also have a much greater volume of blood in your system, and yes, there is a little extra fat stored on you through the pregnancy. This is normal.

It’s also important to realize that you simply need to keep eating through your pregnancy in a normal, healthy way.

Whilst you may have the odd craving for unusual foods at odd times, do keep your normal sense of diet. Eat a balanced menu through the day, and for some women, it can be a good idea to have some supplements particularly as the baby is taking all it needs from you for its development.

Now, the good news is that after the birth of your baby, it is possible to reduce your size back to normal, or very close to it, by doing regular exercise after you get back home.

Please note that I am not referring to a high level work out at the gym, but rather, a gentle adjustment, particularly at first.

It would not be a good idea to try push up, or sit ups, as these can apply pressure to your pelvic floor, and it’s not ready for that so soon after the birth.

I am simply referring to taking your baby for walks with the pram or stroller.

This is a gentle way for you to build up regular exercise, as walking is very beneficial, and relatively low impact.

I also recommend discussing the issue with the hospital, or your general practitioner.

In fact, it is always a good idea to discuss any exercise programme with your general practitioner, to ensure you are ready for the exercise regime you have in mind.

It is a good idea to set realistic goals too, as when you are looking good, you will typically feel better about yourself too.

Again, it’s also a good idea to keep your pre pregnancy clothes, so they can act s a guide, and motivator for you.

It’s important to stay focused, keep your good spirits, and remember to enjoy the new adjustments you are experiencing.

It took you around nine months to put the weight on, so it’s normal to expect it’ll take a few months to get it off again- but it is possible.

I have also included a link to the Royal Melbourne Hospital for more information.
